Bailando Bachata At Los Angeles Dancer University

During this evening’s social dance, I captured images of Bachata dancing at Dancer University’s Saturday social. These photos showcase the dance’s stylistic form and convey the impression that the dancers are genuine couples. In Bachata, it is customary to switch partners after each song ends. This opportunity for different couple pairings allowed me to document the high energy and passion for bachata at this popular Westwood studio. As dancers paired up to express their choreography, the bachata songs dropped their bass, filling the dance floor with a euphoric atmosphere as I happily moved around and enjoyed the scene.

Dancer University, owned by dance instructor Nicole Gil and her fiancé Alayn Govea (DJ A-Line), fosters a vibrant dance community. The studio’s warm and inclusive atmosphere encourages dancers to explore their passion without pressure. It emphasizes personal growth through learning dance rules and etiquette, particularly in their Saturday afternoon introductory classes that teach the fundamental footwork of salsa and bachata. Both Nicole and Alayn have cultivated a strong community of dancers and instructors who share a love for dance and friendship. This dedication is evident in the birthday celebration dances frequently held at their weekly bachata socials!

Although the exact origin of the term “Bachata” is unknown, it is a proud Dominican dance that has gained popularity since its inception. Its popularity has also made its mark in Los Angeles, and Dancer University is the best studio to begin your dance journey!

Creating unforgettable memories for Dancer University and its amazing guests and students was a blast! I hope you enjoy viewing these candid portraits of talented Bachata Dancers who exude confidence and comfort in their dancing shoes.
