Our drive to Chapman University campus was filled with conversations on the lingering feelings of sadness about the abrupt and bizarre circumstances that the pandemic caused us all.
As you all well know, COVID-19 was unpredictable, and it indirectly inflicted so much disappointment with cancellations of in-person classes, cancellations of live Chapman CoPA performances and a proper and well-deserved commencement celebration for the Class of 2020. We were hopeful that this summer would allow for the opportunity for Chapman University to proceed in arranging an in-person commencement celebration; however, summertime has proven it not to be so.
Nonetheless, I am happy and proud to have had the opportunity to create these portraits of Steven that showcase the beautiful Chapman grounds that was a home away from home during his four-year journey double majoring in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Composition. Congratulations to Steven and a warm loving thank you to all of the wonderful Chapman staff and amazing professors!!!
Most certainly I see myself as fortunate to have gotten to spend some weekends in the Orange Circle, frequenting the quaint antique stores and friendly coffee spots, and seeing the fun interaction Steven had running into his Chapman friends. Being a parent of a music student was certainly a pleasurable one since I was able to attend such beautiful recitals and Jazz Big Band performances. It was great to be witness to the warm, fun-loving environment the music conservatory has to offer its students.
It is with heart-filled sentiments toward the special time Steven spent at Chapman that he now proudly moves forward as he prepares himself to begin undertaking the task of pursuing graduate studies at USC in the Music Industry Master’s program.
As a parent of a Chapman CoPa Student, I can certainly say that I am most grateful to Steven’s choice to go to Chapman University!!!
